    Safeguarding

At Little Companions we believe that children’s safety and security is paramount. We have a very rigorous recruitment process to ensure all staff we employ are safe to work with children. We carry out professional referencing and DBS checks.

We comply with Section 11 of The Children’s Act 2004 and our local safeguarding children’s board to ensure all legislations and procedures are in place and followed. In the rare case of any deviation from this, we are committed to providing a professional, prompt and appropriate response.

Our safeguarding polices and procedures are regularly updated and are available upon request from a staff member.

    Health and nutrition

At Little Companions, we believe in a healthy lifestyle from the start. We ensure that children learn positive eating habits from a young age and they are positively familiar with nutritious and a wide range of healthy foods. Following the NHS’s healthy eating for under 5’s, our care for your child’s oral health extends to the food that we provide.

We regularly update our snack menu according to the season and all of our snacks is prepared daily on site. Snacks are free flow and children are encouraged to serve themselves. Milk and water is accessible throughout the session.

Little Companions is a member of Healthy Smiles in collaboration with the Local Community Dental Service . Every child has a toothbrush at the nursery and brush their teeth daily under staff supervision. The Oral Health Team regularly visit to offer advice and tips and information for parents.
